This levy is intended to fund textbooks, materials and teacher salaries per the new SEA contract. It will also enable SPS to reduce the number and severity of cuts to classrooms and educational services due to shortfalls in funding.

School Board Action Report: School Levy Resolution with Brief Description 
This levy will fund textbooks, other instructional materials and professional development in high school science and social studies, middle school language arts, and elementary music. In addition, these funds will support reform efforts to support student achievement and great teachers and leaders for Seattle Public Schools.

Voter Information

• The November general election ballots and voters pamphlets were mailed to voters Oct. 13 – 15, 2010.  To be counted, your ballot must be postmarked no later than 8 p.m. Election Day, Nov. 2.  Don’t forget to sign the voter oath on the back of the return envelope to make sure that your ballot is processed!

  • The voters pamphlet is also available online, at King County libraries and at the Elections Division office, 9010 East Marginal Way S. Tukwila, at Boeing Field.

• Voters can track a ballot online.

• The county offers accessible voting centers where voters with disabilities can cast a private ballot. The accessible voting at the elections office in Tukwila opens Wednesday (Oct. 13). Other centers open on Oct. 29.

Ballot Drop Boxes.  Ballot Drop Boxes open on October 14, and remain open 24 hours a day until Election Day, November 2 when they will close at 8:00 p.m. Ballots cannot be accepted at Ballot Drop Boxes after 8:00 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 2), so consider returning your ballot early to avoid the rush!

Registration Deadlines

Any 18 year old US citizen who is a legal resident of Washington can register to vote in their community. You can register to vote online, at the City Clerks Office, the Seattle Community Service Center, any public library, public school, or at fire stations in Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Seattle, Tukwila, Southcenter, Redmond and Renton.

To be eligible to vote, you must be registered to vote at least 30 days in advance of an election. It is especially important to remember this deadline if you are registering to vote by mail. Your application must be postmarked by the 30-day cutoff or it will not become effective until after the election. If you miss the 30-day deadline and are not currently registered in the State of Washington, you can still sign up in time for the election, but you must register in person at the King County Elections Office no later than 15 days before the election.
